The ubiquitous jeepnee. No doubt the most contested piece of machinery roaming the cities of the Philippines. Polluting and irreverencious for public law & safety, the jeepnee has been around since the second world war. Hand made from used and oft very polluting engines and frames arriving from Japan & Korea, the jeepnee is by far the mostly used transportartion for the Filipino. There are no official numbers, but they certainly range in the hundreds of thousands roaming city & baranguay streets. Not one is identical to the other, and most owners use them to proclaim their religious beliefs or show of family memebrs or the latest media idols... Constructed of stainlees steel and hand role galvanized metal they are uniquely spray painted according to their owners needs. That alone for me represents a very basic national form of art that must be documented for posterity!
