THE LENS | FILM & PHOTOGRAPHY

In all movie making endeavors, there is no doubt that cameras, lighting, sets & costumes have a tremendous impact on the look and feel of any film and consequently on its success. The lens sits squarely between the set image and the camera’s captor carrying light from one to the other. Its sole purpose is to ensure that the light reaching its destination will be of the utmost quality, shape and color. Understanding this role and the physical constraints of the lens will give film producers, directors, DoPs or any creative crew on set, a much better control on the look of the final product long before it reaches postproduction.

The LENS workshop thus walks you through the “roles” of the lens, its "structures" & “controls” and their combined impact on a director’s choices & oft-difficult compromises, whether he is using film or digital media.
